    About Us

After over 150 years of ownership by several generations of the Havards family and other private owners, Havards was purchased by the Community in December 2022. We serve residents and businesses in the immediate Newport and North Pembrokeshire area as well as the many visitors here on vacation or on business.

Havards is a Community Benefit Society with over 390 shareholders. Managed by an experienced board of volunteer Directors, we have a core of 4 part time staff supported by a team of locally based volunteers who provide invaluable help running the shop on a day to day basis.

We were passing through on the motorcycle and stopped in Newport. We dropped in Havards, what a great little shop. Very well stocked with very nice things for the house, garden, kitchen and loads of handy hardware. Very good value too so give them a visit, well worth it. Oh and lovely staff too.

Looks like they carry all those bits and bobs you wish you had brought with you! Note - a community shop, always needed.

Fabulous shop, much more than just hardware! In fact, anything useful that's not edible seems to be here - at very reasonable prices. For this poorly equipped family, the walking boots and hats as well as thermos flasks came in just perfect. Someone told me, it's a community run franchise.
Brilliant! Keep it up Trefdraeth! What a fab town

Havards is a wonderful, community-owned, cornucopia of hardware and household items.

Amazing hardware store, really wide selection of different products including, luckily for me, fairly decent bodyboards and wetsuits!

Good little hardware shop that stocks a range of goods. Worth a visit if you are looking for something when you are caravanning/motorhoming

Great to see that the legacy of Essex Havards has continued with this new community hub. Such hard work from so many in the local community. It’s a must to support enterprise like this!
